Answer: Abandoning the prayer constitutes disbelief, as the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"The covenant (that distinguishes) between us and them (disbelievers) is the prayer; so, whoever abandons it has indeed committed disbelief."
